The IOOS Program Office and the Interagency Ocean Observation Committee are partnering up to host two town halls at the upcoming Oceans ’11 - MTS/IEEE Kona meeting.

The first town hall:  Partnerships to Integrate Ocean Observations to Address Customer Needs, will feature a panel of representatives from international and domestic ocean observations programs across the Pacific region. The goal is to communicate: 1.) how ocean observing programs identify and respond to customer needs and 2.) how to successfully build partnerships across organizations regionally, nationally, and internationally.

The second town hall: Emerging Ocean Observing Technologies Forum, will encourage an active dialogue about the state of play of emerging technologies for ocean observing. Moderators will examine the chain of marine technology development from generating new ideas to building systems and examine how the development chain works and how it could be improved. Speakers from different regional, national, and international observing networks will interact with representatives from marine technology sectors to discuss the state of play in ocean observing technology.
